Good morning. We’ve all been there … driving along the road on a blustery day thinking about nothing and everything while music plays in the background as we softly sing along, making up some of the lyrics … but it doesn’t matter … all seems to be going well. Suddenly … boom! A pothole is hit … deep enough to make you wonder if it knocked out a filling and you slowly move forward wondering if there is damage to your car. Investors yesterday hit a pretty big pothole as “AI” stocks dropped sharply even as its leader … Nvidia … announced earnings that many called “blowout” and “spectacular” … as participants decided to drive faster, ignoring any dangers that lie ahead. Today many lick their wounds and realize what they should have done was simple … as they are still driving along … but starting to slow down. Markets today are on the rise as the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York … an important voice … shared his opinion that the Fed could cut rates at the next meeting. This is interesting as focus used to be strictly on earnings. How quickly this has mainly changed to rates and AI. There will be a lot of shoppers loading up on Thanksgiving food supplies this weekend, but with prices up … people might be a bit more selective. One of the issues many of us face as we prepare our meals is grabbing stuff out of our cupboards and noticing an expiration date … resulting in quite a bit of concern … leaving many to wonder if using that can of yams that expired in January will end up poisoning your family. An article included below gives quite a bit of guidance along those lines … and should be a relief. But something that really grabbed my attention was an article in The Wall Street Journal pointing out that next Wednesday is called “Green Wednesday” … as pot dispensaries claim it to be their second-busiest day (next to 4/20) and younger family members perform “the cousin walk” … as they gather together and take a stroll before sitting down for the family meal, using up some of what they bought the day before. At first I was shocked … as this is something completely new to me … but upon reflection it does make grocery shopping easier … as I will certainly have one product on the table … that doesn’t have an expiration date …. alongside the turkey, cranberries and mashed potatoes. … Doritos Have a great weekend and have fun shopping, Joseph G.
