3rd Annual Emerald Day

The tradition continues!

Team Emerald recently gathered at The Desmond Hotel in King of Prussia, just minutes from our King of Prussia office, for our 3rd Annual Emerald Day.

What began three years ago as a dedicated day to learn, grow, laugh, play, bond, and celebrate has become a tradition we look forward to each year. At its heart, Emerald Day is about stepping away from our laptops and day-to-day responsibilities to celebrate the people who make Team Emerald what it is: our employees.

The day kicked off with breakfast and time to reconnect, followed by a dynamic recap of the past year, including firm activity, updates, and accomplishments. We also officially welcomed our newest team members to Emerald.

From there, the team participated in a thoughtful discussion and Q&A with Gina Moore of AJO Vista, an Emerald company, exploring the future of AI in our industry. The conversation focused on how we can thoughtfully and compliantly leverage AI to enhance operational efficiency, encourage innovation, and continue evolving the way we work.

Next, we welcomed Bikram Chada, Senior Director and Head of Middle Market Institutional Sales & Consultant Relations at Russell Investments, who shared his perspective on the middle-market opportunity, its untapped potential, and some of the forces that could shape the markets over the next decade.

After lunch, it was time to step away from the spreadsheets and embrace a little nostalgia with a pinball tournament! Teams competed in a series of challenges, including blindfolded and relay-style pinball games that put both communication and teamwork to the test.

And the fun didn’t stop there. The Client Services team took part in a 1920s-themed gangster activity, while our Investment teams participated in a FactSet information session. We then brought everyone back together for a spirited game of Family Feud, complete with tiny trophies for the winning team.

We rounded out the day with a cocktail hour and dinner at the hotel, followed by a wonderfully grounding and inspiring message from Phil Martelli, legenday former assistant coach of the Michigan State University men’s basketball team and a lifelong friend and mentor to Emerald’s CIO.

Phil’s message was simple, but powerful:

Say thank you to the people who exist around you.

And that’s exactly what we did at Emerald Day.

We thanked each other for showing up day after day – through victories, setbacks, challenges, celebrations, and all of the seemingly ordinary days in between. Because every one of them matters.

That’s what Emerald Day is all about: celebrating the people behind the work, the relationships behind the team, and the shared commitment that continues to move Emerald forward.

Here’s to another year of learning, growing, laughing, playing, and — most importantly — doing it together.
