David A. Volpe, CFA has been named Deputy Chief Investment Officer of Emerald Advisers. During his 14 years at the firm, Mr. Volpe has been instrumental in helping Emerald grow its assets to approximately $2.9 billion as of March 31, 2014. The longtime senior executive and research analyst will work directly with Emerald President and Chief Investment Officer Kenneth G. Mertz II, CFA who announced the appointment, “David’s experience and insight will add significant value to our portfolio management team and organization through this newly-created position.”
Mr. Volpe has over 23 years of investment experience which includes managing Emerald’s Mid-Cap Growth and All Cap Growth portfolios and serving as research analyst covering the energy sector. “David brings a wealth of experience to this new position and further strengthens our already strong investment team,” said Joseph E. Besecker, Chairman and Founder of parent company Emerald Asset Management, Inc.
As Deputy C.I.O., Mr. Volpe will assist Mr. Mertz (the C.I.O.) in managing daily operations, performance evaluation and risk management, as well implementing strategies relating to best practices, innovation and technology.
